Funky Buddha's Best Parties Ever...

With 20 gigs in December it's fair to say that Funky Buddha band are busy! We are excited to be the party band at Syon Park for Best Parties Ever and have worked hard to create a great set of music from Jazz to Chillout and an extended party mix that is rocking the dance floor...literally! Some Christmas classics have had the Funky Buddha treatment and sound better than ever including: Dusty Springfield, The Eagles, Mariah Carey and not to forget a bit of Wham for good measure, Christmas has kicked off with a bit of a bang.

And if that's not enough Buddhalicious are out as I write; Mark, Rachel and Jim are off to Cambridge playing for a Christmas party! More songs have been added to the set (I did say we were busy!) and the sound is great for smaller venues - all the authentic feel of a big live band but non of the space issues.... perfect.

I've taken a few shots so far and plan to get the video out so watch out if you're having a corporate do this December.... I'll be watching you!

Weddings Here There and Everywhere!

It's been a while... Funky Buddha Band have been on the road going all over the country playing at weddings and parties, from Bosham to Barnstaple, Hull to Havant and lots of other places that don't share the same letter name! so I thought I'd share a few of our photos with you. We've been updating our sets and now include even more clever mixes and funky grooves that just seem to work every time. The dance floor bounced so much I thought we were going to go flying.

Funky Buddha party on the Thames.

What an amazing night was had by all as Funky Buddha Band got the party rolling on the river Thames. Love the chillout music, love the jazz and most importantly what a great set we did (not wishing to blow the trumpet too loud but...) The new songs were great and everyone went crazy for The Kings of Leon didn't they! I thought the boat may capsize it was bouncing so much! Thanks to everyone, band and partygoers for such a great gig!

Funky Buddha hit the road this summer

Buddha boys!
Funky Buddha band have been rushed off their feet this month playing great live music at weddings, parties and anniversaries…. July has been a fast rollercoaster of gigs and we’re still going!  We’ve worked on a great new set of live lounge and jazz music which was performed at many venues including Alfresco’s on Brighton seafront for Pete and Celine , (a great night all round).  We loved Buxted Park Hotel and and Hayley did a great job getting everyone on the dancefloor!

Gemma sings like a soul star!
Our funky 6 piece band played at Ghyll manor funky soulful singing Gemma -  couldn’t get them off the dance floor! And thanks to everyone at Tithe Barn (Sussex) for all the fantastic support you always give us;  We loved the DJing and it took us right back to the Hacienda!

We’ve been building on our options for all events and I have been busy doing solo piano for wedding ceremonies and receptions – Classical music to more popular styles it’s beautiful and sets the right atmosphere while everyone is mingling and enjoying the pimms!
Me!

The DJing option is also a winner meaning that you can get all your favourite songs in…. GREAT!

With wedding music at Babbington House (Somerset) to Hornchurch and Oxford Funky Buddha have got a very busy weekend ahead – watch this space for the pics, until next time

LIVE MUSIC FOR YOUR EVENT? THE FUNKYBUDDHABAND CAN HELP!

So!  You’re looking for a band to play live music at your wedding, party, corporate event, private function etc, you probably have a great many questions, and need some answers.
Below is a list of queries that we are commonly asked.

Q – Is your equipment PAT tested? (An electrical test to ensure equipment is safe)
A – Yes. All our equipment is PAT tested on a regulation 12 month period.

Q – Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
A – Yes we do. We have cover up to £5m, and can offer up to £10m if required

Q – Can you send PAT certificates & Public Liability documents to me or the venue, if they need to be seen?
A – Of course we can. We will be more than happy to email these direct to the people that need them  (or Fax/Post if required)

Q – What time will you arrive at the venue to set up?
A – We arrive in plenty of time to get set, usually after 4pm if the event is in the evening. Many bands won’t turn up before 7pm, or will charge for an earlier set up – we don’t, if access to the function room is limited, then we will work with client to ensure minimum disruption.

Q – I have a couple of special songs that I would like you to play live, is this possible?
A – Of course it is, this is part of our wedding package (most bride and grooms ask for their wedding first dance to be played live).  If you would prefer the first dance to be played from a play list, then we will download it for you.

Q – How long is your Party Setlist?
A – Normally we play for 2x1hours or 3x40 minutes. However, we are flexible and can adapt our timings to fit into your evening (e.g., you might not want live music when the buffet starts)

Q - I might need some extra live music for the drinks reception or ceremony, can you help?
A - Yes, we are able to offer several band options, here is a brief list: 3 piece Buddhalicious, 4 piece Buddhalicious, 6 piece Funkybuddhaband, the main 7 piece Funkybuddhaband, which can be increased with extra horns and singers to a 12 piece. For ceremony music, post ceremony drinks music, music to accompany the wedding breakfast, or entrance of guests, we can offer solo guitar/piano, a small jazz combo, and new this year is a chilled acoustic line up, similar to the Radio 1 live lounge arrangements. We can also offer `The Buddha String quartet` for ceremonies.

Q – Do you send a contract/confirmation of booking?
A – Yes we do. All of our bookings have a contract – that way you know what you’re getting, what the band requires etc, many bands do not offer this service.

Q – Is it possible to hear and or see you play before we book you?
A – Yes you can. There are various demo tracks on our web site, www.funkybuddhaband.co.uk  plus you will able to view the funky buddha band video, which features the nine piece line up. We also perform at various public showcases throughout the year so that potential clients can see what they are getting, and therefore book with confidence. keep an eye on our blog and Facebook pages for the latest news.

Q – Will the band need anything specific on the day?
A – As a basic guide, we would grateful if you could provide the band with some food, soft drinks (water/juice) and a room to change in. Parking spaces would also be useful in some circumstances.

Q – Are you available?
A – Please feel free to contact the Funky Buddha Band at any time with you enquiry. However, book early to avoid disappointment!!  Seriously though, we already have confirmed engagements for 2012.
I hope this info is helpful, see you on the blog soon!

Funky Buddha Play North Of Luton

The Funky Buddha Band have just played a great gig in Hull tonight! Our singers dad was celebrating a very significant birthday which has something to do with a 5 and a zero, and lives in that great town on the river Humber. The band played a three set program, and really rocked the venue, with people dancing all night!! Luckily we are all staying up here, so no road side sleep overs! Next week should see less travelling, with three London gigs.
